Stories from Lord Krishna’s life are an important inspiration for art forms across India. This Pattachitra by National Award-winning artist Niranjan Moharana depicts tales of Krishna in all their glory. In the many scenes within, you can find stories from his childhood, the Rasaleela, his mischievous antics and his visit to Mathura. Two panels besides the central picture depict the Dashavataras of Lord Vishnu. Different panels at the centre depict scenes from his teenage years while those on the edges display scenes from his early childhood.
Literally meaning Cloth Painting, Pattachitra is an artform from Puri in Odisha in which images of deities are painted on a piece of cloth.
